We all know time flies when you’re having fun. It flies especially quickly when that fun is writing a ten-minute play in 48 hours. That is the task ScriptWorks members were charged with during the Weekend Fling writing retreat. And if that isn’t challenge enough, they had to also incorporate three random ingredients into their mini opuses.

Debutantes & Vagabonds, an Austin non-profit theater company, proudly presents the theatrical premiere of The Virgin w/ 10,000 Arrows written by member Jason Tremblay and directed by Francisco Rodriguez.The production received funding from ASW’s Finer Point Fund for new play production and to help us replenish the fund, D&V is donating proceeds from the July 18th matinee to Austin Script Works.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for students and starving artists.

Flashbacks, maternal admonitions, and all kinds of dances promenade through Time Steps, the 11th annual Out of Ink ten-minute play showcase. Eight plays were selected from submissions created during a 48-hour writing retreat, called the Weekend Fling. During the Fling, writers are given three “ingredients” and two days to write their hearts out and create a ten-minute play.

A global pop ballad, a Christmas …

ASW in partnership with Teatro Vivo presents SEGUNDA ETAPA: The Second Stage, the culmination of the second phase of the Latino Playwrights Initiative. Two full-length plays commissioned by Austin Script Works will receive a week of rehearsals and workshopping leading to public staged readings. The day-long event will also include a playwriting workshop and a party.
