Charlamaine and Tommy fall in love and live out their secret tryst under the cover of a hidden bayou. As the narrative unfolds, the outside world, with all their social mores encroaches upon their relationship with tragic consequences. Part Our Town and part Romeo and Juliet, Steal Away expresses fundamental truths measured beyond the known distinctions of race, color and creed.
