Julie Holden

Julie Holden

“I think it’s safe to say that I’m first and foremost a writer. ScriptWorks is my weird and wonderful connection to what I love about Austin. Supporting playwrights, sharing a community, and getting the opportunity to see amazing works in progress is fulfilling – and a ton of fun!”

Between being a full-time mom and a part-time internet sleuth, Julie somehow found the time to win the 50th Pillsbury Bake-Off Grand Prize. Homebased in #ATX, Julie likes going on adventures, writing stories, and living one ridiculous day at a time.

Julie lends her creative voice to ScriptWorks’ bingeworthy newsletters and internal communications. Her short plays have been included in ScriptWorks’ online campaigns.

Former writer and critic-at-large at the beloved Austinist, Julie is also an occasional theater director.

Heather Bishop

Heather Bishop

“ScriptWorks is truly dedicated to the support and development of the playwright’s voice- a place to learn, grow, and connect with others. I am thankful to be a part of this welcoming community.”

Heather is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and writer who shares simple stories of the human experience, rooted in commonality. Her style of roots music defies categorization, with songs that linger at the crossroads of blues, rock, soul, and country.

Her literary work ranges from poetry and short stories to plays, personal essays, and cookbooks and her music has been used in creative writing classes in several universities. As an educator she has focused on creativity in the jazz aesthetic and as a ghostwriter her work has focused on science, technology, and public policy.

Heather has contributed vocals, strings, and percussion in genres ranging from rock to reggae, bluegrass to metal, folk to Americana. Her bold-yet-vulnerable performance style has drawn comparison to Ani DiFranco, Tina Turner, and even Richie Havens.

Born in New York to West Indian parents, Heather was raised in the American South. Her multicultural roots have shaped a musical and storytelling voice tinged by the hues of jazz, blues, calypso, reggae, gospel, southern rock, and every shade in between.
