Masquerade tells the story of an unlikely group of friends that develop when the worlds of comic book cosplay and drag collide. Masks, alter-egos, and secret desires both hide and reveal each person’s true self, if there is such a thing.
James Venhaus is a playwright, actor, director and educator. He is the author of 17 plays that have been produced in theatres across the country and in five foreign countries. He is a three time Alamo Theatre Arts Council Globe Award winner for “best original script” for his plays Broken Record, The Happy Couple and Ugly People. His collection of holiday-themed 10-minute plays, “Stocking Stuffers”, originally developed for Dallas’ Ground Zero Theatre is now published by Original Works Publishing. His four plays for young actors, published by Playscripts, Inc. are frequently produced in schools around the country. He holds a B.F.A. in Theatre from Southwestern University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Austin College. He lives in Fort Worth with his wife and daughters.
