STARS OVER SMITHVILLE depicts a young working class couple’s division over paying for their child’s dog’s expensive monthly medicine. It is a play about all forms of love and how certain circumstances bring our hidden sides to the surface.
Marla Porter is an Austin, Texas, editor by day and playwright by night. She is a proud member of ScriptWorks, the Dramatists Guild, and the Playwrights’ Center. Her plays have been performed in Austin, Houston, and Baytown, Texas; San Diego, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Gulf Port, Florida; and Willoughby, Ohio. She has a Summer 2025 evening of her one acts to be performed by the new theatre company The Collective in San Miguel de Allende.
