What do you get when you add three arbitrary ingredients to a gaggle of playwrights, multiply by 48 hours and divide by 10? Without fail, you’ll get ScriptWorks Weekend Fling, where member writers have 48 hours to write a ten-minute play using three contributed ingredients. When you take the product and add in a selection panel of three artists, you solve for the eight plays that are produced in OUT OF INK. Don’t make the error of missing it!

This year the showcase occupies the Trinity Street Theater with eight plays inspired by the following ingredients:

1) A pair of mismatched failures

2) Peering into the void

3) Mathematical errors

At the end of the Weekend Fling, the plays were read in a ScriptWorks Salon at the State Theatre.  A selection committee picked eight of the plays for production in Out of Ink. The selection committee included directors Linda Nenno and Peck Phillips and non-applying member Candyce Rusk.

THE EMPTY SET scripts were written by:

Lowell Bartholomee, Allison Orr Block, Carolyn Kennedy, Max Langert, Jason Rainey, Nettie Reynolds, Sheila Lynch Rinear and Cindy Vining.  The plays will be performed by an ensemble of actors including  Suzanne Balling, Roxy Becker, Amy Chang, David DuBose, Rachel Hoovler, Joshua Klein, Max Langert, Ellie McBride, Christi Moore, Garry Peters and Gricelda Silva They’ll be directed by Carolyn Kennedy,  Max Langert, Ellie McBride, Christina J. Moore, Linda Nenno, and Sharon Sparlin. Dramaturgy is provided by Teresa Stankiewicz and designers for the project are Pam Friday, Natalie George, Julia Phipps and Josean Rodriguez with assistance from Eliot Haynes.
