DRAMATIS PERSONAE WORKSHOP: 3 REASONS PLAYWRIGHTS ARE THE BEST VIDEO GAME WRITERS

$15.00$25.00

Game writing is dramatic writing. It borrows from the worlds of theater, movies and TV. But what makes it exciting and weird is that the writer and the audience create the story together.

(If you’re wondering, “How does that even work?” this event is for you.)

In this event, you’ll learn:

  • Why the player is NOT the most important character in a game’s story
  • Why Christopher Nolan scripts are more like games than movies – and what that means for your work
  • Where the jobs are, and how to find them (it’s easier than you may think!)

ABOUT SUSAN O’CONNOR:

Susan O’Connor writes stories for games. She’s worked on over 25 projects, including titles in the BioShock, Far Cry, Tomb Raider and Star Wars franchises. Games in her portfolio have sold over 30 million units and generated over $500 million in sales. Susan founded the Game Narrative Summit at GDC. She’s an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where she teaches a popular course on how to write for games.
