Admission: $15-$35

In preparation for ScriptWorks annual Weekend Fling, we are presenting this workshop with playwright, performer, and teaching artist, Diana Burbano. During the Weekend Fling, ScriptWorks members have 48 hours to write a ten-minute play using three contributed ingredients. The event culminates in a public reading of the freshly-penned scripts at 5:30 PM on Sunday, November 22nd. Eight plays will be selected from those written during the Fling for production in the OUT OF INK 2027 short-play showcase in April/May at Hyde Park Theatre.
In this hands-on workshop, playwright and longtime South Coast Repertory teaching artist Diana Burbano shares practical tools for writing under pressure. You’ll learn how to get started fast, how to turn a list of required ingredients into a story instead of a checklist, and how to rapidly shape a ten-minute play. Expect quick exercises, generous feedback, and permission to be messy. You’ll leave with a good plan for your Fling weekend.
